Our client is a very strong and well established UK based rail consulting business with an extensive client portfolio.

Due to continuing high levels of work in standards compliance, independent verification, and safety approvals activities and notified body activities, additional expert staff are required at a range of levels.

Duties and responsibilities:
•    To project manage assignments relating to compliance with standards and approvals.
•    To undertake design scrutiny work and construction inspections where appropriate.
•    To liaise with Specialist Engineers.
•    Involvement in certification of RRVs and RMMMs; training can be given.
•    To monitor developments in standards and approval processes.
•    To undertake risk assessments and independent verification activities.
•    To support the Safety Management and Assurance Team Leader and Section Heads on a range of approval issues.
Key skills and experience required for this position include:
•    A sound understanding of engineering principles and knowledge of various types of rolling stock.
•    Knowledge of the various standards used in the rail industry, including the developing TSIs.
•    Ability to co-ordinate a large number of assignments and deliver certification to tight deadlines.
•    Some experience of design scrutiny or vehicle inspection.
•    Some knowledge of the UK approval processes and recent developments in this area.
•    Ability to unambiguously and pro-actively communicate with Specialist Engineers and clients.
•    A high level of professional integrity.

Will consider people with general mechanical/electrical engineering skills and provide training.
